Start Delay
The Start Delay is the time from the start of the clock to the actual Start, used for convenience by the RC.
Time is the actual total time recorded by the RC on the score sheet, including any Start Delay.
Total Seconds includes the time from Start to Finish, excluding any Start Delay.
Typically, the RC clock runs in countdown mode through the starting sequence for both fleets, then switches to race timer (counting up) at the B fleet starting signal. That means the A Fleet starts 5 minutes BEFORE the race timer. That 5 minutes is the start delay, which is (should be) recorded on the score sheet, and added here (as -5).
Sometimes the RC starts the clock at the A Fleet start. In that case, the start delay is 0 for the A fleet, and 5 minutes for the B Fleet.
Unless the starting sequence for the B Fleet was interrupted, the start delay should be 5 minutes longer for the B Fleet than for the A Fleet. If it isn't, please let me know.
Series Tie
From the Racing Rules of Sailing, 2009-2012
Appendix A8.1:
If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat's race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favor of the boat with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.
Appendix A8.2:
If a tie remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats' scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.
