GMSC Racing Schedule:
Download to Your PC/Mac/PDA

2010 Centerboard Schedule

Download the schedule right into your calendar. From there it goes to your phone or PDA next time you synch it with your PC. Go ahead and download the schedule now, or read on for instructions, caveats, etc.

I use this with Outlook, but it should work with any other calendar that allows importing an "internet calendar," "virtual calendar," "iCalendar," "iCal," or ".ics" file. The easiest way to find out is just click the link and see whether it works. Instructions below are for Outlook; the process for other calendars should be similar.

If you browse with Safari, you'll be happy to know I fixed the problem you had with last summer's centerboard schedule. Safari didn't know what to do with that schedule, but this one works – at least on my machine.

Harbor Gun Warning

As of this writing (15 April 2010), Harbor Gun times for 4 race days are still TBA on the GMSC site. This calendar uses the suggested times, but they aren't official. It might be updated when the official GMSC schedule is fixed, but that won't change the entries in your calendar.

How To

You can keep the schedule as a separate calendar or merge it into your regular calendar. As a separate calendar, you can view it on its own or overlay it with your regular calendar. Keeping it separate will make it easy to delete the entire schedule and start over when the TBA times are decreed. Otherwise you can manually update those 4 entries. (Keep in mind they were published at the last minute for the '09 centerboard series.)

Import as separate calendar

The process is really simple:

  1. Click download schedule
  2. Click Open in the dialog
  3. Outlook will open and display the schedule

Let me know if you need me to explain that further – especially you Hobie sailors.  ;-)

If you don't like it as a separate calendar, delete it and follow the directions below. To delete it, right-click on the schedule tab, select "Delete GMSCKeelboatSchedule09.ics..." and your sins will be forgiven.

Import into your regular calendar

This way is a little more trouble, you have to save it to your PC, then open the file you saved. Here's how to do it using Outlook on a PC:

  1. Click download schedule
  2. Click Save
  3. Save it (remember where you put it)
  4. In Outlook, in the File menu, click "Import and Export..."
  5. Select "Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar (.vcs)"
  6. In the Browse dialog, find the file you saved (it's named "GMSCKeelboatSchedule09.ics" unless you changed it). If it doesn't appear, be sure to select "iCalendar Format (*.ics)" in the "Files of type:" box
  7. Select the file you saved and click OK
  8. Outlook will display the schedule

If you're using a calendar other than Outlook, the process should be pretty similar, just play around with it.
