Rope, splices, knots
Brian
Toss has lots of information about rigging, knots, etc. Toss wrote the knot
book in the Chapman Nautical Guides series.
Marlow Ropes in

New England Ropes
Samson Rope
Each manufacturer recommends slightly different splicing techniques for its
own rope. Most of the variations are fairly subtle.
Marlow's splicing
instructions are all in
a single document.
New England splicing instructions need no reader.
Samson splicing instructions
for various types of rope, especially braids. As of Spring 2003, these are
the clearest I've seen.
Watch your step on shore (Arkansas hazards)
Poison ivy is
ubiquitious in this state. This is a good site for identifying both the real
thing and the many imposters.

America's Cup links
vs.
The toughest competition of the Cup turned out to be ESPN. We were
reminded what U.S. viewers really want. Let's face it, hip-hop dancing, street basketball, and brutes pulverizing each
other are all way more popular than our sport – heck, we actually penalize
contact.
"Official" America's
Cup The official site is broken. I'm guessing that's not a good omen. "Unofficial"
America's Cup A New Zealand view of the Cup. I know the flags are out
of date, but they sure look cool, no?
